Day 3 - Post IBR (1/2) - California

After getting my riding boots wet and sandy in the Pacific, I decided I try to set up camp early and just rest. I looked up a few spots but none were open for a few hours (so I couldn’t call ahead and ask for availability). I rode to one place that was 30 minutes away. Booked full. Next. I rode to a a place about 45 minutes, Torrey Pines. It wasn’t for camping, and there were too many people there for me to enjoy/relax my time there.

I was getting very annoyed, as I hadn’t slept in awhile, gas was expensive (over $4.50 a gallon), and I’d been riding for a very, very long time.

By then (09:00), I was able to call a place - Laguna campground I think - which thankfully had spaces available. It was 1 hour and 15 minutes away, and the last thing I wanted to do was ride, but I also really wanted to sleep. I rode there and set up camp - which took nearly 3 hours in my sleep deprived, borderline delirious state. I’d only had about 8 hours of sleep in the past 56 hours (almost none of which was deep sleep), so everything was difficult and time consuming to do.
